Paediatric First Aid  For people in childcare settings such as pre-school workers, childminders and often parents of young children. 12 hours over 2 days or 4 evenings. This is the course that Ofsted and SureStart will expect. Learners with existing qualification can do this up to three months in advance and have their old expiry date carried forward - this saves money. It is first aid for babies, children under 8 years and children over 8 and is valid for three years. In addition to the usual life saving procedures it covers common childhood ailments and the legal framework.  This course will not be cancelled due to low numbers. Learners can obtain HSE Emergency First Aid in the Workplace qualification on this course at the same time for a small administration fee. Maximum 12 people per course

Emergency First Aid in the Workplace - 6 hours - one day or two evenings. For the person in the workplace / social group/ sport organisation who will be expected to deal with first aid until the emergency services take over.  It covers recovery position, cardio-pulmoary resuscitation, choking and wounds. In addition there will time to deal with some illnesses that may need first aid treatment and defibrillator awareness. This course is covered by the HSE guidelines and is valid for three years. Maximum 12 people per course

First Aid at Work - 18 hours - three days. This is the Health and Safety Executive course for workplaces with significant risks or larger numbers of people. See the website of the HSE www.hse.gov.uk or contact admin@abbeymeadtraining.co.uk for guidance on numbers. This is externally assessed and valid for three years. Refresher training is recommended during this time and requalification at the end. The course content is: recovery position, C.P.R., wounds, some medical conditions in the workplace that may require first aid and defibrillator awareness. It is more thorough and comprehensive than Emergency First Aid in the Workplace. Maximum 12 people per course

First Aid at Work Reqalification - 12 hours- two days. This must be done prior to the expiry of the First Aid at Work qualification in order to revalidate it. It is typically one and a half days tuition and half a day assessment. Maximum 12 people per course

First Aid at Work Refresher - 3 hours - recommended either once or twice during the validity of First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid in the Workplace, Paediatric First Aid, etc. Mainly recovery position, CPR, choking and bandaging. Compliance is not mandatory but at an inquest you may find it difficult to explain your reasons for not having had this done in the workplace. Maximum 18 people per course

First Responder An advanced course for holders of Emergency First Aid, First Aid at Work or equivalent. It is two days or four evenings. After a practical session with formative feedback we focus on immediate response covering CPR and defibrillation, actions for vomit, potential spinal / neck injuries and the use of a spine board, suspension trauma, base line recording and massive haemorrhaging.

Outdoor pursuits and Equestrian Handlers First Aid - Between 7 and 18 hours. Basic First Aid and Resuscitation, legal duties, first aid for extreem conditions, moving casualties, impalement, amputations, suspension trauma, crush injuries, risk assessment and defibrillator awareness. Valid for 1 to 3 years depending on requirements of outside bodies. Maximum 12 people per course

Allergies to Anaphylaxis- A three hour session highlighting products that can cause allergies or intolerances, the problems and symptoms and control measures.  Ana Pen and Epi Pen training pens will be used. Maximum 20 people per course
