FIRST AID AT WORK
This is an Health and Safety Executive controlled course. It is run over four days or eight evenings and is valid for three years.It is primarily for personnel who have a duty to perform first aid in the workplace. It covers the legal framework, first aid, resuscitation and common ailments that could affect people in the workplace.It is particularly useful for businesses with significant risks or large numbers of employees, clients or members of the public present. Sporting organisations should consider the number of First Aiders they should have present.

FIRST AID AT WORK REFRESHER
Exactly as above except it is run over two days or four evenings. Sight of a current or recently expired First Aid At Work certificate is needed at the start of the first day.

APPOINTED PERSON & EMERGENCY FIRST AID  
This is a six hour course over one day or two evenings. It covers a similar syllabus in less detail. It is intended for the person(s) in the workplace or social group who will deal with basic first aid and possibly resuscitation. Normally there are one or two in small organisations. Useful at home, too. It is reccomended that this is renewed within three years.

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
This is a twelve hour course usually conducted over two days or four evenings.It is suitable for people in child care environments such as pre-schools or for parents of young children. It covers common childhood complaints, first aid, choking and resuscitation of youths and babies. Some of the legal requirements are covered too. It is based upon the requirements of Ofsted and the NCMA and is acceptable for them both. It is valid for three years after which a repeat is necessary. Some organisation's risk assessment insist that the coursde is done more often.

EQUESTRIAN HANDLERS
A seven hour or two evenings course similar to the Appointed Person but including neck, back and head injuries. There is also greater emphasis on bandaging.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY CENTRE FIRST AID
A twelve hour course over two days that is similar to the Appointed person but includes sporting injuries, neck, back and head injuries and the section on the effects of heat and cold are given much attention.

EMERGENCY FIRST PERSON ON THE SCENE (EFPOS)
Sight of a current  first aid certificate showing competence of CPR  is a pre-requisite.
A six hour course including: basic life support, emphasising good quality CPR and defibrillator training.  It is recommended that this is current for twelve months and is renewed annually.
