If you have any compliance training news we may be pleased to add it to this page.
1. 12 Feb 2009. We attended the launch of Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) at the Assembly Rooms in Bath. This is destined to be the major organisation dealing with examinations and quality control for compliance training in Great Britain. Initially it will focus on Food Safety but has a rolling plan to cover all safety training. The meeting was introduced by Richard Sprengler, the author of many highly respected books on food safety. Abbeymead signed up as a training provider and became the first organisation in Devon and Cornwall to successfully deliver food safety courses through HABC.
Note - by 2011 HABC was matching CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health)
2. We delivered our first "Equine Handler's First Aid" course yesterday and today (27 and 28 January 2010 . This was a resounding success despite having only five people on it. None of the candidates had ever come across "suspension trauma" before and all were impressed with the content of the course. It is planned to run similar courses in the future.
3. 18th October 2010. Abbeymead were the first training organisation in the Westcountry to deliver First Aid Training to the European Resuscitation Council Guidelines which were published today. The main changes are that compressions during CPR should be deeper (5 to 6 cm) and faster (between 100 and 120 compressions per minute). This confirms Abbeymead's desire to be a leader in first aid training.
4. April 2011. Hayley, Liz and Barrie from Abbeymead helped Surf Life Saving GB to make a DVD of defibrillation and CPR on Saunton Beach. This is now a part of the training package used to train people to Responder standards all over the country. The filming was directed and produced by Dr Paddy Morgan and Bill Ezekiel.
